H is for Hyundai
Hailing from Korea a Hyundai is a common sight on Irish roads these days. Since 2009 the growth in new car sales for the brand have been meteoric, albeit from a low recessionary base. As with almost all brands, 2016 will be another good year for Hyundai car sales earning them a top 5 place. Here is a profile view of the Irish Hyundai fleet by registration year.
As one would expect, Hyundai second hand sales are quite robust and over three thousand Hyundai’s change hands every month across the country. Used transactions for the last three months are shown below.
Most Hyundai’s sold in the used car market have two or more owners, as shown in the table below. A larger number of previous owners gives greater opportunity for vehicles to be clocked, watch out especially for Hyundai’s that have more owners than a typical vehicle of that age or that have had recent ownership changes. This information is readily available via a reputable Online Car History Check.
As always, if you are not buying a used Hyundai from a main dealer, i.e. privately, the service history should be verified and one should always check the mileage using an online mileage check such as Cartell.ie, especially if your vehicle has more than one previous owner.
