F is for Ford
Henry Ford can singly be credited with bringing affordable motoring to the American masses, his wiki article is well worth a read. Today his legacy lives on and Ford is still a major player in the Irish market and has the second largest fleet on Irish roads. As of Sept 2015 there are 362, 737 Fords on Irish roads, here is a profile view of the Irish fleet by registration year.
As expected the second hand market for Ford vehicles is quite lively and for the summer of 2015, about 10,000 changed hands each month, or about 327 vehicles per day on average!
Most Ford cars sold in the used car market between June and August 2015 had two or more owners. A larger number of previous owners gives greater opportunity for vehicles to be clocked, watch out especially for vehicles that have more that two owners or change hands relatively often. This information is readily available from a Cartell or AA Car History Check.
As always, if you are not buying a Ford from a main dealer, i.e. privately, the service history should be verified and one should always check the mileage using an online car check such as Cartell.ie, especially if your vehicle has more than one previous owner.
